New Parent Boost Visa: What It Means and How to Prepare

The Government has announced the new Parent Boost Visa – a multiple-entry visitor visa that allows parents of New Zealand citizens and residents to stay in the country for up to five years. This is excellent news for families looking to reunite for longer periods without the hassle of repeated short-term applications.

Applications open from 29 September 2025, so now is a great time to start preparing. While immigration medicals may not always be required for visitor visas, some long-term or multiple-entry options can include health assessments, depending on personal circumstances or the applicant’s age.

If you or someone you know is planning to apply, especially parents who may later switch to other visa categories, it’s worth checking whether a medical might be needed. At Immigration Express Christchurch, we provide full medicals, blood tests, and chest x-rays – all in one place, with quick turnaround.
